Get Back in the Saddle on This Fun Belize Horseback Riding Tour

Horseback riding in Belize can be pleasurable, relaxing and the most amount of excitement you’ve had on a horse for years at one of the best all inclusive resorts in Belize.

Not everyone visiting Belize wants to spend all of their time underwater, snorkeling the Barrier Reef, diving into caves and swimming in the Caribbean Sea. Plenty of visitors are perfectly content to stay above ground—especially if it means engaging in activities like horseback riding.

Imagine how much fun it can be to get acquainted with Belize’s lush landscape while enjoying a tranquil ride. Still, if you’re hesitating because you don’t have time or resources to line up a horse and plot out a riding route, Belizean Dreams Resort has done the work for you.

Stay at one of the finest Belize all inclusive resorts, enjoy lush surroundings, beautiful accommodations and fine dining and whether you book a short stay or a more extended package, let staff know that you’d love to go ridingYou’ll be fixed up with everything you need for a day on horseback.

Never galloped through a jungle?

This is your opportunity to explore territory once frequented by ancient Maya peoples. Ride through local citrus orchards, jungle and rainforest, traversing small creeks and rivers. You’ll marvel at the Belize landscape as you follow guides on one of the horses rehabilitated and trained to take people of all ages over varying terrains. Those guides will add interesting facts and point out sites that add meaning to the ride.

To make sure the horse you are assigned is compatible with your size, temperament, and experience, you will experience a short fitting and riding lesson. You’ll set off on a route that skirts the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Preserve and into expanses filled with exotic birds, kapok, pine and palm trees. As you near your ultimate destination, a riverbed along the Sittee River, dismount and enjoy a refreshing swim.

Must you pack riding gear to take this Belize adventure tour?

Since you’re not going to compete nor will you be expected to dress in formal riding garb, just wear long pants and sturdy hiking shoes, a hat and sunglasses. Bring along the same supplies you would were you riding elsewhere: bug repellent, a water bottle, sunscreen, and don’t forget a camera and binoculars to enhance and record your outing.

Are there restrictions you should know about? Just a few. Horses on this tour can only accommodate people weighing less than 250 pounds. It’s suggested that only mature kids age 7 and older ride, and since this tour isn’t part of a package, you’ll pay a separate fee.

This half-day Belizean Dreams experience departs from the resort at either 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. and you can read all of the details on our Belize horseback riding page. Make sure you grab a swimsuit so you don’t miss out on that river swim. Treats for your horse are, of course, optional.
