Getting married in Belize
The wedding package includes license arrangements and two ceremony witnesses. The resort’s planning checklist below helps you prepare; your coordinator will review the requirements and timing for your circumstances before travel.
Before the ceremony
The resort’s arrival guidance allows for three days (72 hours) in Belize before the license application, submission on the next business day and one day for processing. Plan the timing with your coordinator around weekends and public holidays.
Your documents
The resort’s checklist includes a passport and original birth certificate, plus an original divorce or death certificate where applicable. A Senior Justice of the Peace witnesses the application; the resort’s guidance states that a blood test is not required.
After the wedding
The resort assists with registration after the ceremony and advises allowing approximately ten weeks for processing before the certificate is mailed. Christmas weddings can take longer.
Discuss a civil or religious ceremony with the coordinator, along with personal, faith or access needs. Light, comfortable clothing and footwear for sand suit the beach setting; include a weather backup in your plans.
